Postforge vs Omnisend

Omnisend puts email, SMS and web push for online stores in one platform, billed by your contact count. Postforge does email only: open source, on your own sending, never priced per stored profile.

Which one fits you.

Both send good email. The difference is what else you want from the same tool, how you send and how you pay.

Pick Postforge if

  • You sell on Shopify and want email done properly, without a suite
  • You want to send through your own Resend or Amazon SES account
  • You don’t want to pay for profiles you never email
  • You want your AI agent to set up and run your email, with a person approving every change
  • You want open source, with your data in your own database

Pick Omnisend if

  • You want email, SMS and web push in one tool
  • Your store runs on WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Wix or another platform Postforge doesn’t support yet
  • You want built-in sign-up forms and pop-ups today
  • You want a vendor with a long track record

Switching from Omnisend.

Your store already holds your customers, orders and consent, so most of the move is setting up your sending and rebuilding your workflows as automations. Your agent can do much of it.

  1. 1

    Connect your store

Install Postforge on Shopify. Customers, orders, products and email consent come in with their full history, so there is nothing to export.

  2. 2

    Carry over your unsubscribes

Make sure everyone who unsubscribed in Omnisend is unsubscribed in your store too. Postforge only emails people with consent and writes every unsubscribe back to the store.

  3. 3

    Set up your sending

Connect Resend or Amazon SES and verify your domain. Start with your most engaged subscribers and grow volume over a few weeks, so inbox providers get to know your new sending.

  4. 4

    Rebuild your automations

Start from the ready-made welcome, abandoned checkout, browse abandonment, post-purchase and win-back automations, or have your agent draft them from your Omnisend automation workflows. You approve each one.

  5. 5

    Switch over

Turn on each automation in Postforge as you turn off its counterpart in Omnisend, so nobody gets both.

Questions, answered.

What people ask when they compare Postforge and Omnisend.

Is Postforge an Omnisend alternative?

For email, yes. Postforge covers what ecommerce brands use Omnisend email for: segments, campaigns, automations like abandoned checkout and win-back, and revenue attribution, on your store’s data. It doesn’t do SMS or web push.

How is the pricing model different?

Omnisend bills by billable contacts, subscribers and non-subscribers alike, and its tier moves with your contact count every billing cycle. Postforge is never priced per stored profile, and sending runs on your own Resend or Amazon SES account, so you pay them directly for what you send, without a markup.

Does Postforge have sign-up forms?

Not yet. Embedded and pop-up sign-up forms with double opt-in are the next feature on the roadmap. Until then, people who subscribe through your store’s own forms come in with their consent.

Omnisend has an MCP server too. What is different?

Both let AI clients work with your account. In Postforge every automation, segment and template is a typed document with a published schema, everything the dashboard does is in the same open API, and every change an AI makes arrives as a proposal with a diff and a dry run that a person approves before it goes live.

Does Postforge work with WooCommerce?

Not yet. Shopify is the first and deepest integration. WooCommerce and other platforms follow on the same core.
